What Is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® treatment is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. With these aligners there are no brackets or wires, and you're free of the other restrictions and irritations that come with metal braces. Invisalign clear aligners are FDA-approved and contain no BPA, BPS, latex, or gluten. They are thin, clear, and fit snugly over your teeth, making them virtually invisible and ultra-comfortable.

What Are Dental Sealants?

Dental sealants are thin, protective coatings that we usually place on the chewing surfaces of the most common area for cavities to form - the back teeth. They’re definitely no replacement for brushing and flossing, but they can keep cavities from forming since they make keeping teeth clean much easier. Sealants are most commonly placed on children and young-adults and have been said to reduced the risk of decay by nearly 80% in molars.

The Best Way To Brush

As obvious as it may seem, there are a lot of ways to brush teeth incorrectly. We've found that many of our patients brush and use toothbrushes that are too hard which can severely damage gums. In an effort to quickly get ready in the morning many of us don't properly clean all surfaces of our teeth, especially our back teeth (molars) which leads to the build up of plaque and even full-blown cavities. Play it safe and check out this helpful video on the best way to brush!

The Best Way To Floss

Flossing daily reduces your risk of tooth decay and gum disease. It's very important to remove left over food and plaque that may have built up between your teeth and just below the gum-line since these are most often the ways teeth become discolored and begin to decay. Like brushing teeth, flossing can be done too hard and ineffectively so be sure to watch the video to learn more about best practices for flossing your teeth!

What Is Periodontal Disease?

Periodontal disease is a serious matter that can be easily avoided with the routine cleanings we offer. "Perio" is caused by bacteria within dental plaque that naturally collects on your teeth. In an effort to get rid of the bacteria your immune system inflames your gums leading to swollen, bleeding gums (gingivitis). Unreachable tooth decay, behind the now swollen gums, can cause teeth to become loose - eventually lead to losing teeth entirely.

The Procedure

The procedure begins with an anesthetic being given for total comfort during the deep cleaning process. The cleaning involves thoroughly "scaling" all plaque, bad bacteria and tartar deposits from your teeth and root surfaces. Next, "root planing" smooths all rough areas on your roots' surfaces. Smooth root surfaces keep tartar from reappearing underneath your gums. This effectively  allows healing of the gums and alleviates your frustrating symptoms.
